If you are in possession of the original papers, you must return them together with a copy of your transfer of ownership or Bill of Sale and processing fee of $40 + provincial tax, to the office address.  If you are a US or foreign owner, no tax applies. We recommend mailing XPressPost so that you have a tracking number.

The transfer fee can be paid by e-transfer, cheque or credit card. To pay by e-transfer, please send to <accounts@canadianwarmbloods.com> with details in the note section including your name, name of horse and reason for transfer as that address has an automatic deposit.

If you wish to pay by credit card, and are not comfortable including that number with the paperwork, please phone the office at: 306-373-6620 ; M-F ; 10:00am - 4:00pm ; CST

If you do not have the original papers, an Affidavit will be required. In that case, please write to <office@canadianwarmbloods.com> and we can walk you through the process.

Transfer of Ownership

1. It is the responsibility of the Seller to transfer the Ownership of any Canadian Warmblood horse that you purchase. The Canadian 'Animal Pedigree Act' (APA) is a Federal Law which specifies that: "If an animal is offered for sale as registered or eligible to be registered" or is "offered for sale in a manner that is likely to create an erroneous impression the animal is registered or eligible to be registered", the seller must provide registration papers to the purchaser within six (6) months of the date of sale.
There is no provision in the ACT to sign away this responsibility. Unlike other countries, in Canada the responsibility for registration & transfer of ownership lies exclusively with the seller. This is law and can be enforced by the RCMP.

2. The seller does not need to be a member of CWHBA to Transfer Ownership.

3. Simply download and print the Transfer of Ownership attached below, complete and send with appropriate fee to our office in Saskatoon. HST/GST apply to Canadian Residents.
If you are in the USA, you may chose to contact the office, and pay for the transfer via Visa credit card.

    Call: 306-373-6620 ; M-F ; 10:00am - 4:00pm ; CST

4.    Remember, you need the horse you have purchased in your Ownership in order to prove age, and compete in Young Horse Performance Classes or participate in the CWHBA Awards program and the USDF All Breed Awards.

5.    If you are the Seller, your name must appear as the last Owner of Record in order to transfer the papers. If the papers were never transferred to your Ownership, but you have a Bill of Sale from the last recorded owner, then all transfers must accompany the application. Only one transfer fee will be required. Please contact the National Office Help Desk if you need assistance. office@canadianwarmbloods.com

6.    If the seller has given you the original papers, as buyer you can still transfer ownership by submitting those papers to the office with a signed transfer or copy of your Bill Of Sale. You will be required to pay the transfer fee as above.
